Melbourne Pub Group are proud to announce that Jeremy Jankie, formerly of renowned Bennetts Lane (which is due to close next month), has joined the Group's booking team to focus on live music at Cellar Bar, below Newmarket Hotel [St Kilda].
Cellar Bar announced a shift to regular live music programming earlier this year, with Jankie’s appointment seen as a key step in this transition. This follows on from the news of James Power joining the Group as Live Bookings Director last month.
On his appointment, Jankie said, “I'm looking forward to working with Tom Walker [Melbourne Pub Group Director], James and the Melbourne Pub Group team in bringing a wide range of proven high calibre artists, plus exciting new acts, to Cellar Bar."
Jankie’s experience in the industry will be invaluable to both Melbourne Pub Group and the venue. "Over the years I've had the opportunity to work with some absolutely incredible musicians, from the Purple One (Prince) to Sting, Basement Jaxx to Fat Freddy's Drop,” he said. “Watching The Cat Empire, Sarah Blasko and Megan Washington go from niche musicians to some of Australia's most celebrated artists, not to mention the jazz Gods like Chick Corea, Brad Mehldau, George Garzone, Joe Lovano, Wayne Krantz, Kenny Kirkland, Cindy Blackman, The Bad Plus. It’s talent like this that I want to bring to Cellar Bar.”
